On Whigs, RINOs and Federalists

It is worth noting that the Whigs took less than four years to totally disintegrate once the GOP began. The establishment GOP today (which seems to be most of them, including my representative) are nothing more than Democrat-Lite. If I wanted a Democrat, I would vote for one. Pretending that the GOP is some kind of distinctive difference from Democrats for anything other than national defense is pure fantasy.

Repealing Obamacare is not amending it. Yet the RINOs insist on amending the PPACA, and also passing yet another CR which maintains funding for Obamacare, Planned Parenthood, the OTM refugees from Central America, and continuing DACA in practice which is no different than the Democrat position.

I’m so sick of the lies from the GOP, they say they will repeal, and once we vote them in, they only want to amend. I’m sick of their cowardice. They need to be held accountable to do what they said they would do, and they have fallen way short. Couldn’t hit the broad-side of a barn as we say here in the Hoosier State.

Yesterday I was treated to back to back RINOs on FNC. Kasich, Graham, and McCarthy. If FNC keeps that up, I will be done with them too.

I’m no longer a Republican, I’m a Federalist now.

Bill O’Reilly was due to return to his show after a two week vacation next Monday.

Rumors have been swirling about 21st Century Fox and Fox News settling five different cases of sexual harassment against O’Reilly, most were over five years ago, with some going back to 2003. Actually the settlements were not a rumor, O’Reilly confirmed them on his show about three weeks ago. He did say that the allegations were baseless.      

Today another story appeared which was said to be harassment from a black female support staffer, also from around 2003. He allegedly called her “Hot Chocolate”. That sounds more like a compliment to me, but I guess it would depend on the delivery. He probably didn’t know her name? Was “Hot Lips” Hoolihan from M.A.S.H. also sexual harassment?

Today Fox News simply terminated O’Reilly’s contract, after his recent signing of a four or five year deal at 20 million per year, which would be the same deal they offered Megyn Kelly. They probably severed him out at 20 million or so. 

I’ve long thought that O’Reilly should begin to think about retirement for a number of reasons. Just not this way, there are other currents going on that nobody seems to be talking about. 

Or maybe someone is.

On Hell Freezes Over

Rich TAkes! ON HELL FREEZES OVER!

After 108 years the Chicago Cubs, the winningest team in baseball, finally won another World Series. 

Next, a mostly life-long Democrat, when he wasn’t Reform Party, or allegedly Republican, Donald Trump not only won the Republican nomination for President, he also soundly whipped Hillary Clinton this past Tuesday to become President-Elect. Surely Hell must have frozen over!

Stranger things have happened, but not in my lifetime.

If you have looked at this blog, you know that I have not been a Trump supporter, or a Clinton supporter, not by a long-shot, or even close to the broad side of a barn. 

Still, I wish him well, and pray that he is successful in steering the rudder of our USS United States Ship of State. Congratulations, Donald Trump, you pulled off the impossible.

Here is a guy who has taken two sides to nearly every major issue, and several I couldn’t disagree with more. But I’m willing to give him a chance. Occupying the Oval Office tends to sober a person up real quick, and Trump doesn’t drink or smoke. He may have other vices, but hey, he’s 70 years old already!

I wasn’t a never Trumper, but I was very close. I supported Ted Cruz, he has a resume a mile long, and he took a stand against Obamacare, even if it was a mostly symbolic exercise in the Senate. Cruz did not shut down the government, which only affected 15% or so of non-essential services anyway, Obama shut the government down by refusing to sign legislation that the House sent him for spending. Boehner and McConnell caved, when they could have made a difference if only they stood their ground. Cruz pointed out their Republican hypocrisy, and for thanks, the GOP establishment aimed their guns at him, as well as other fine conservative members of the House and Senate. While the TEA Party and classical liberal conservatives gave the Republicans the House and later the Senate, for thanks the GOP took aim at conservatives..

Now it is up to Trump to save the Republican Party. That thought is not only scary, it is also ironic.

The Republican Party set the stage for someone like Trump to get the nomination by not pushing back in any significant way against Obama’s policies. The people have spoken loud and clear that we don’t like Obama’s policies and unconstitutional over-reaches ever since Obama took office in 2009 and then set to work jamming central government Obamacare down our throats. The mid-terms in 2010 and 2014 should be proof enough. And now in the 2016 General, Hillary lost by huge enough margins in states she was supposed to win.

The election is over, and kudos are also in order to Hillary and Obama for her gracious concession and his walk around the White House to begin the transition. 

The truth is, the American people have repudiated Obama’s agenda since the 2010 mid-terms. Trump represents just the latest iteration of American’s disgust with the path we’ve been following since 2009. Trump seems to be serious about reversing nearly all of Obama’s legacy. I pray he does just that.

On the FBI Surprise, Surprise!

If Hillary Clinton were anyone other than Hillary Clinton, she would have been in jail over a year ago. The very fact that she conducted business while Secretary of State on her home brewed server is in violation of the Freedom of Information Act, the Records Act, and the Espionage Act. There are at least 16 potential violations, with the counts numbering in the thousands.

What is even worse is the pay for play scheme conducted at the same time for the Clinton Foundation, the Clinton Global Initiative, and the ridiculous “speaking fees”  that Bill commanded once Hillary became SoS. His speaking fees amounted to an average of 275k beginning in 2009. A typical speaking fee at that time was around 25 k or so for in demand speakers at legitimate venues.

Exactly one week ago, the FBI and James Comey said that they were re-opening the investigation into Hillary, due to new evidence acquired during their investigation into Anthony Weiner’s sexting issue with a fifteen year old. They seized a lap-top, and behold, it had 650,000 emails featuring Huma Abedin and Hillary Clinton on it. Dick Morris is speculating that said laptop is not Huma’s or Anthony’s at all, it is Hillary’s missing laptop for over two years, and that Huma was simply holding it for safe-keeping in order to document a future book or something. As I recall, that is exactly the same reason why Nixon installed a secret tape recording machine in the Oval Office, and he got ran out of Dodge for erasing 18 minutes of tape, once it was discovered.

The election is next Tuesday, so if you have not voted already, please vote for anyone other than this un-indicted felon.

Vote for Pence

Two days ago, I wasn’t going to vote for anyone for Pres. I can’t fully support the R, D or L. They are all progressives, the differences are really just shades of gray.

Since I am a conservative, a true Classic Liberal, this is a huge issue for me. We are faced with the most trying election in all of our lifetimes. There are no good choices. That is pretty typical for me, the only Republican nominee that I’ve supported in the primaries was Ronald Reagan. I was TEA Party before there was a TEA Party. It is really Constitutional Conservatives, with libertarian leanings. I am radical in the sense that our Founding Fathers laid out in our founding documents. Our country was founded on the radical idea that we the people have rights, sovereignty and liberty. What followed was the most successful nation in history mostly due to limited and restrained government as applied to the citizens, we the people.   Continue reading Vote for Pence→

Rest In Peace, Mufasa

RichTAkes! On Mufasa

No, not that Mufasa, Mufasa, the Lion Kingalthough my daughter did name her new German Shepard Dog puppy Mufasa when she brought him to the farm for the first year of so of his life. What the hell kind of name is Mufasa I asked, and was given the short version of the Lion King. I had somehow neglected to have watched it.

She later moved on with her ex, new husband and I didn’t see Mu for a few years. Somehow things didn’t work out after another three or four years, and my daughter and Mufasa came back. My daughter left after a few weeks, but Mu stayed on, since she couldn’t take him with her. In some kharmic way I guess, Mu was our dog now.

Mufasa was a joy to have around, he was very loyal, obeyed commands without complaint, and of course he shedded constantly. He had a half acre of fenced in playground to romp around in with our other dogs, it must have been pretty close to doggie heaven for him. After three years or more of my not having any contact with him, he recognized and remembered me instantly. He would go into extreme attack mode if he ever saw a young white male with either a shaved head or a tight crew-cut. I think he had some bad experiences with someone fitting that description during the time he was away from the farm.

I have edited a few posts I made at FaceBook concerning our experience with Mu’s case of Degenerative Myelopathy, or DM. We did not discover what his condition was until it was too late, had we recognized it earlier we might have been able to take certain steps to make things better, primarily with diet and exercise. I would advise anyone with a German Shepard Dog to at least become familiar with this disease so that you can recognize the symptoms at an earlier stage. There is a very good chance that your dog will be faced with this devastating, incurable disease one day. It is a canine version of Lou Gehreg’s disease, ALS.
